Lucknow | In a major breakthrough in a construction material theft case, BKT Police have arrested four accused and recovered around 4 tonnes of stolen steel reinforcement rods (sariya) along with the truck used in the crime. The successful operation has brought relief to contractors and builders who had been reporting repeated thefts in the area.
According to police officials, several complaints had been received regarding the theft of steel rods being used at construction sites in the BKT region. Acting on these inputs, the police formed a special team and intensified surveillance across suspected routes and locations.

During a focused operation, the police intercepted a suspicious truck. Upon inspection, the vehicle was found loaded with 23 bundles of steel rods. During questioning, the occupants of the truck confessed to having stolen the material from construction sites.
Preliminary assessment revealed that the recovered steel rods weighed approximately 4 tonnes. The police immediately seized the truck and registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of the law. Further legal proceedings are currently underway.

Police officials stated that the action is part of an ongoing drive against theft and illegal activities in the region. “Strict action will continue against those involved in criminal activities. Such operations will be intensified to ensure safety and law and order,” an official said.
The swift action by BKT Police has created a sense of alertness among those involved in illegal trade and theft, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to curbing crime in the capital.
